Meet Hollywood’s Character Kings!
“Scott Voisin’s Character Kings features in-depth interviews with Hollywood’s hardest working actors. The conversations are candid and insightful, with each performer discussing his roles in mainstream hits and cult classics, his methods of research and preparation, and his advice on how to survive and make a living in a highly-competitive business.”
Dark Del does it again! Bill and I arrived last Saturday to a spirited signing with not only author Scott Voisin but several of the character kings themselves.
Why a book about character actors? Scott Voisin tells us… “These guys may not be stars, but they are the heart and soul of the movies and TV shows they’re in. Still, most audience members just know them as ‘that guy.’ I wanted to talk to the person who was able to become ‘that guy,’ the Hollywood survivor known as the successful character actor.” Clearly, Peter Jason appreciates Voisin’s efforts…
And from True Blood, William Sanderson plays the town sheriff, 10 gallon hat and all. Both Sanderson and Jason were happy to sign Bill’s Deadwood deck. Bill received an enthusiastic handshake from Daniel Roebuck…
We also enjoyed meeting James Karen as he signed our books.
We always have fun at Dark Del. Last weekend we attended the Ghastly Ones signing. A lively bunch! (I mean, in spite of the whole “dead” thing). Bill adores this surf-rock garage band (with a late-night monster movie theme) and naturally we had a gruesome time. Love this…Del in line in his own store. As Bill and I headed out to Burbank Boulevard to our faithful Pathfinder, we found the band had parked behind us… check out the hearse! How freaking cool is this?
Del and Sue (what a dynamic duo) do an amazingly spooky job with their store and signings. I’ve written about their store before, going into more detail from their black coffin shaped bookshelves to the unique stock of horror books, CD’s, clothes and more… In fact, we’ll be visiting again on the 22nd for yet another signing for Greg Bear and Karl Alexander!
