Condor 2011 San Diego

New hotel this year! Condor moved to the Town and Country Resort, which was notably quaint with its dainty gardens, cherub fountains and well, okay one Tiki Idol, but let’s not worry about that…

As I’ve mentioned before, Bill and I attend Condor as vacationers, so our write up is not inclusive or official. We hang out, have meals with friends, missing most of the actual convention events. But of course Bill is pretty diligent about the author signings!

It does tend to rain during Condor, but this year was a weather freak show… Saturday we had a major Southern California storm. Dude, it actually snowed in Burbank that afternoon! It was all over Facebook. Get a load of Del’s snow covered car!! That evening, we had just finished a nice dinner with Bill’s mom and had stopped at a 7-11 in Encinitas for some hot chocolate before heading back to the hotel. There was a loud, funny sound… like hail, sort of. Suddenly our windshield was covered with… hail? Not quite, too squishy to be hail. Too solid to be snow. But it was frozen, white and wet, and it was in San Diego. We were like, no no no, the end of the world is not scheduled until 2012, not 2011. Oh, and the next day? Gorgeous. The most perfect day ever (except for the outside furniture being soaked). Freak. Show.
